26 May Scott Cala Bandida fights to defend the title at the Spanish Championships
Grit and character from SCOTT Cala Bandida on a day of maximum demand
This past Sunday, SCOTT Cala Bandida made its mark once again at the Spanish Marathon (XCM) Championships, held in León over a demanding 101 km course with more than 2,200 meters of elevation gain. A true endurance test, both technically and physically, where the team once again proved its competitiveness and commitment with every pedal stroke.
José Mari Sánchez, in the mix for the win
Defending his national champion jersey, José Mari Sánchez raced with courage and determination. In a tactical, all-out battle, he entered the final kilometre in a select group of six riders contending for the title. The finale was intense, and José Mari crossed the line in an impressive 4th place, just 26 seconds behind winner Pablo Rodríguez.
Epic comeback by Enrique Morcillo
The day also saw Enrique Morcillo overcome adversity, after a mid-race mechanical cost him precious time. Refusing to give in, he dug deep and powered through the field to finish 9th, capping off a performance full of resilience and determination.
A team that never gives up
Although the title couldn’t be defended, the team leaves León with strong sensations and two riders inside the national Top-10—a testament to their excellent form and unwavering competitive spirit.
With eyes already set on the upcoming challenges, the Bandidos continue the season with ambition, character, and the commitment to give their all at every race on the calendar.
