Sergio has done it again! He has become XCM Spanish Champion for the second year in a row.\u00a0 Yesterday he revalidated his title in Jerez de los Caballeros after three and a half hours of\u00a0 racing.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Sunday 21 May will go down in the history of the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA. After a spectacular\u00a0 route of 83 km, 2,200 metres of positive vertical drop and 3 and a half hours, Mantec\u00f3n once\u00a0 again won the Spanish XCM Champion’s jersey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The best riders on the national scene gathered yesterday in Jerez de los Caballeros to compete\u00a0 in the Spanish XCM Championship, with the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team represented by Sergio\u00a0 Mantec\u00f3n, Jose Mar\u00eda S\u00e1nchez, Francesc Guerra and Miquel Fa\u00fas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A race that has been brought forward a few months to be held within the Templarios Marathon\u00a0 and that was very close from the beginning. A large group of riders rode together for a large part\u00a0 of the race, including Mantec\u00f3n, Jose Mar\u00eda S\u00e1nchez and Francesc Guerra, but with five\u00a0 kilometres to go, a brilliant attack by Sergio won the race and retained the title.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am very happy to have been able to retain the\u00a0 <\/span>title. For me, and for the team, it was one of the <\/span>objectives of the year and we have achieved it. This <\/span>is thanks to the work behind the scenes, we have <\/span>been working hard all week to reconnoitre the <\/span>terrain. It wasn’t an easy race, we had a tough week <\/span>because I had a bad cold, but we came out very <\/span>motivated and we went for it. Each rider played his <\/span>cards and luckily I was able to finish it off and win <\/span>the title” – <\/span>Sergio Mantec\u00f3n.<\/b><\/p>\n

For their part, Jose Mar\u00eda S\u00e1nchez and Francesc Guerra made it into the top 10. The Spaniard\u00a0 fought until the end and managed to finish in sixth position. Guerrilla closed the top 10 and\u00a0 Miquel, in his first championship with the team, managed to finish in 15th position. <\/span><\/p>\n
