21 Mag Victory for Felipe Orts at La Rioja Bike Race
Felipe Orts, ambassador of ISB Sport, shows off in La Rioja Bike Race getting the overall classification in his first mountain bike victory this season. In addition, the rider from Alicante, very solid throughout the race, has achieved two partial victories demonstrating his great form.
In the opening time trial, Felipe Orts started the race dosing the efforts conscious of the demanding course. As the kilometers went by, the rider from La Vila found a good sensation that grew steadily throughout the course. Finally, the long-awaited moment of the season arrived, a victory with authority, one minute and a half ahead of the second classified.
With the aim of defending the leader’s jersey, Orts started the queen stage of La Rioja Bike Race regulating in the first climbs knowing the opportunity he would have in the final stretch. With two riders ahead, the rider from Alicante started a chase to catch both riders and make an attack to form a duo in the lead. With the same race situation, the rider from Alicante arrived at the final sprint, where he used his good speed to win the Martí Arán volley.
The last day of the Riojan round arrived, where Felipe Orts had a significant margin of advantage to manage during the course. The six times Spanish Champion of the Spanish cyclo-cross, nonconformist, took a step forward in the early stages of the stage, forming a trio in the lead that would manage to make its way to open a definitive gap. Already in the final stretch, the rider from La Vila decided to secure the overall victory crossing the finish line in third position to close an immaculate weekend with a taste of liberation.
