This eight-day race, covering 707 km and 16,000 m of elevation gain, is known as the \u201cTour de France of dirt roads\u201d and brings together the best cyclists in the world, including world, continental, and national champions. Our ambassadors, riders Lorenzo and Nicol\u00e1s, the \u201cSampaBros,\u201d achieved 9th place overall, demonstrating endurance, technique, and courage over eight days of extreme competition.<\/p>\n<p>Despite previous difficulties, including a rib fracture suffered by Lorenzo after the Andaluc\u00eda Bike Race, the KTM SPADA team arrived in Cape Town prepared and acclimatized, after 15 days of training in the terrain and the African summer heat.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-67379\" src=\"https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-700x466.jpeg 700w, https:\/\/isbsport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Cape-Epic-2-600x400.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the stages, the team faced extreme conditions, including intense heat, gastroenteritis, and rain, but they remained resilient and competitive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 1 (90 km, 2150 m): They finished 8th, joining the leading group.<\/li>\n<li>Stage 2 (102 km): A demanding stage, but suitable for their preparation, with a good overall performance.<\/li>\n<li>Stage 3 (140 km): Lorenzo suffered from gastroenteritis; every meter was a challenge, but he didn&#8217;t give up.<\/li>\n<li>Stage 4 (87 km): Despite the initial disadvantage, the team persevered until crossing the finish line.<\/li>\n<li>Stage 5 (120 km, 2800 m): The queen stage, with rain and extreme exhaustion; Nico led the way, and both finished the race.<\/li>\n<li>Stage 6: It started with an uphill climb and changeable weather; they maintained focus and strategy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Cape Epic was a test of endurance, sacrifice, and camaraderie, where each stage tested both body and mind. Preparing the KTM SPADA with Brenta brakes and our bike bearings was key to tackling the race&#8217;s challenges, ensuring safety and performance on the most demanding sections.<\/p>\n<p>The final result, 9th place overall, reflects not only the strength of the SampaBros, but also the reliability of their equipment and gear.
