04 May Double points for Alcoba at the Cremona WorldSSP round
Kawasaki WorldSSP rider Jeremy Alcoba showed steady progress across the fourth round of the World Supersport Championship, held at Italy’s Cremona Circuit. Despite a tough qualifying session, the Spaniard scored points in both races and heads to the next round with renewed confidence.
Race 1: A tough start and a determined comeback
Saturday’s Race 1 saw Alcoba start from sixteenth on the grid, after a Superpole session where he struggled to set a fast lap. Lining up on the sixth row, Jeremy didn’t get the best launch, but soon found his pace and caught the chasing group. He climbed up to thirteenth place, earning three valuable points.
Despite the result, Alcoba admitted he wasn’t satisfied with his early performance but felt strong on used tyres and praised his team’s work on the bike setup.
Race 2: Strong recovery ride to P8
Sunday brought warmer conditions and a much stronger outing for Alcoba. Starting again from the sixth row, he dropped to seventeenth on the first lap but delivered a smooth and intelligent race, managing tyre wear and improving pace throughout.
He eventually crossed the finish line in eighth place, collecting eight more points and moving up to seventh in the championship standings with 60 points overall.
The next round of the WorldSSP Championship will take place at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic from 16 to 18 May.
With points scored in both races and clear improvement across the weekend, Jeremy Alcoba and the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team leave Cremona with renewed optimism. The focus now shifts to the next round in Most, where they’ll aim to continue building and challenge for a top-six finish.
