27 Mar Cannondale Vas Arabay in the Cape Epic 2023
Last week, we were able to enjoy the Absa Cape Epic, a UCI cycling competition in pairs par excellence in the World calendar in South Africa that covered a total of 648 kilometers, with 15,475 meters of accumulated altitude throughout its 8 days of racing.
In a Cape that many consider as the hardest in recent years since some stages have been of real feat to finish due to some very hard stages with a lot of unevenness for the already known South African single track and especially to huge rains with a lot of mud and a strong wind, we have been able to enjoy a spectacular participation of two couples of the ISB Sport ambassador team, the Cannondale Vas Arabay.
The female pair formed by Monica and Greete have managed to finish the 7 stages of the Cape Epic within the Top5. In addition, in the last stage, the one that went from Lourensford Wine Estate to Val de Vie and one of the ones with the most unevenness, they were the first with a time of 04:02:50.5. This great result has allowed them to finish the Cape Epic as fourth classified!
On the other hand, the female pair formed by Roberto and Miguel, has also achieved great results, competing with top-level couples. The first day they choked a little bit finishing in position 21. Then, stage by stage and day by day, the results have been improving. In the fifth stage they finished in fifth position and in the sixth in fourth. Results that show his competitive spirit and positive mentality.
That is why these results and their improvement stage after stage, have led the male ambassador pair of ISB Sport, to finish the Cape in sixth position. Being the first Spanish couple in the competition.
It has been a very tough test both physically and mentally for both couples, who have achieved great results and once again, have made themselves noticed in the world of cycling with a very good start to 2023.
Now it’s time to keep working hard to continue with these magnificent results.
