José Mari Sánchez and Enrique Morcillo put in a superb performance in Paterna at one of the key events of the year
SCOTT Cala Bandida achieved an outstanding result at the Spanish XCM Championships, held last Saturday in Paterna, one of the key events on the team’s calendar.
Aware of the calibre of the event, the team fielded its three main riders, Alberto Barroso, Enrique Morcillo and José María Sánchez, alongside reserve rider Diego del Valle, in a race that brought together the country’s top bike marathon specialists.
The race was run at a very high pace from the start, with SCOTT Cala Bandida always well positioned in the leading group and competing head-to-head for the top places.
In the end, José Mari Sánchez secured a brilliant second place, whilst Enrique Morcillo completed the podium with third place, thus securing a double podium finish of immense value for the team at one of the most important events on the national calendar.
Both riders, who had just competed together in the gruelling Cape Epic, where they finished in the top ten, once again demonstrated their strength and experience in this type of event, cementing SCOTT Cala Bandida’s status as one of the leading teams in national XCM.
The calendar doesn’t stop, and SCOTT Cala Bandida is already setting its sights on the next target: the Spanish Gravel Championship, which takes place this very weekend.
