José Mari Sánchez conquers the Far West Race by SCOTT
The Andalusian cyclist had an unforgettable weekend in the UCI bike marathon, which was broadcast live.
Despite not arriving in top form due to about of flu, the rider demonstrated his strength by taking the overall victory. He did so after winning the first stage and securing a solid second place in the second, thus maintaining his lead in the timesheets.
Absolute Domination on the First Stage
From the very first day, José Mari made it clear that he was ready to fight for victory. On a day marked by a strong pace from the start, the Andalusian rider managed to control the attacks and always stay in the lead. With intelligence and power, he responded to each breakaway attempt until he reduced the group of favorites to just three riders: Pawel Bernas, Vinzent Dorn, and himself.
At the crucial moment, when he felt he had the race under control, he launched a decisive attack that no one could follow. With an unstoppable pace, he opened up a lead large enough to cross the finish line alone and comfortably win the first stage.
An epic duel on the second stage
The rains of the previous day made the second stage even more challenging, with muddy sections that demanded extra skill and endurance. The race soon came down to a head-to-head battle between José Mari and Vinzent Dorn, in a constant battle for first place.
Ultimately, it was the German cyclist who managed to prevail on this second stage, gaining a slight advantage in the final kilometers. However, José Mari Sánchez managed to manage his overall advantage, securing a second place finish that allowed him to become the overall champion of the Far West Race by SCOTT.
A victory with great impact
José Mari Sánchez’s triumph in this prestigious event had a huge impact, in part thanks to the live broadcast of both stages, which allowed fans to follow the action in real time.
With this victory, the Andalusian cyclist reaffirms his excellent form and clearly demonstrates that he is one of the names to watch in long-distance MTB. Congratulations, José Mari!
