28 Feb ISB SPORT WITH STUDENTS AT UNIRAID
The UNIRAID project is a great human and solidarity adventure for students with an entrepreneurial spirit between 18 and 28 years old. It is a 9-day itinerary through the desert of Morocco in cars of more than 20 years with which solidarity material is distributed to the peoples of Morocco. ISB Sport has been the main sponsor of the ETSEIB team of industrial engineering students composed of Berta and Lucas.
The students sponsored by ISB Sport at UNIRAID 2022 chose a 1989 Ford Fiesta with 74hp that had to withstand asphalt, dirt, stones and sand from the hard roads of the different stages.
UNIRAID is not a rally or a speed race, it is an adventure-trip in which participants must complete 6 stages without the help of GPS or electronic devices, simply navigating with a roadbook that facilitates the organization with the details of each stage and a compass, in the purest Dakar style. Along the way you have to overcome all kinds of obstacles, challenges and tests, with the aim of crossing Morocco from north to south and delivering the 100kg of solidarity material in the desert schools and the different villages through which the ISB Sport team passed.
This project has put Berta and Lucas to the test as they have been in countless situations in which they had to solve mechanical problems using the scarce material they had in the most creative way possible. UNIRAID Morocco makes the different teams cooperate with each other in order to help the other participants finish the stages and deliver the solidarity materials.
“Throughout this rally we have passed through the most remote places in Morocco, incredible landscapes, with dunes, roads, dry lakes and immense plains. But the most important thing of all and what we are most proud of as a team is the great solidarity work we have carried out providing these more than 100kg of solidarity material to people who really need it” Berta and Lucas.
