13 Jul ISB Sport in the Sustainable Dakar 2024
The ISB Sport bearings brand has always been linked to the world of motor racing, from its family origins in the Enduro World Championship to the present day. Supporting the base of the sport with the sponsorship of training projects such as Monlau, Moto Student and Formula Student, to taking ISB Sport bearings and components to the highest level in the most important championships on two and four wheels, sponsoring the Pertamina Mandalika SAG team in the Moto2 World Championship, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing in the Superbike World Championship, the A2 Team in the Spanish and European Motocross Championship or the All Terrain Motorsport in the FIA World Cup for Lowlanders.
Among all these teams and championships, ISB Sport has also been working for more than five years with Watt Power Racing on the development of an electric motorbike for the Dakar. This project has now taken on greater significance following the announcement by the organisers of the world’s most important rally of the creation of a category for electric vehicles.
TECHNOLOGICAL LABORATORY
Its exceptional characteristics make the event an unparalleled technological laboratory, turning it into a test bench for testing new engines or developing innovative safety devices. It was precisely with this in mind that the Dakar Futur programme first allowed hybrid-powered cars to burst onto the scene, boosting the performance of the best teams. New avenues have also been opened up for technological experiments that can transform the rally-raid universe, and the “Mission 1000” project perfectly embodies the pioneering spirit of the Dakar.
Only the most fuel-efficient energies will be able to take part in the challenge posed by the Dakar’s “Mission 1000”: hydrogen, 100% electric vehicles or hybrid engines with a minimum amount of biofuel.
Neither winners nor losers. Although the ultimate desire of the Dakar organisers is to take part in a real competition, the participants in the “Mission 1000” will initially be invited to a test that will allow the constructors to obtain as much information as possible. Their performance in terms of technical reliability, energy consumption and carbon footprint will be assessed by a jury of experts.
As an ideal location for the development of bearings and components in the world of motorsport, the Italian brand is working to be at the beginning of the Dakar 2024.
