LUCKY LAKE 3D BICYCLE PROJECT

From ISB Sport we support the development of engineering projects carried out by young people, that is why we have worked together with Lluc Uceda Prandi, a second-year student of GSMI (industrial design) in which we have worked on the design and development of Lucky Lake.

This project is launched from the need to create a fully customized bicycle frame with innovative manufacturing techniques in materials such as titanium, carbon fiber and stainless steel. This manufacturing technique allows to create totally customized products from the design in CAD and promotes the technique of producing what has actually been sold, without accumulating products in stock, since it allows to design exactly what the client asks without having to acquire and / or design new machines for each type of product.

From this need was born Lucky Lake, a high-end road bike frame manufactured in 3D printing using SLS laser deinterization technology. The design consists of 5 pieces of Ti-6Al-4V assembled with Gr5 titanium or carbon fiber tubes from a two-component EpoxyAraldite, which provides a clean and seamless joint. The development of Lucky Lake is carried out with the help of design programs such as SolidWorks, Rhinoceros, Ultimaker Cura, PrusaSlicer, AutoCad, among others. In addition, 3D printers in which the first geometry tests can be made in PLA and carbon fiber prototypes.

This project has been developed with the clear fact that sustainability is an important point for modern industry as well as for the EU and other countries of the world that focus on ecology, sustainability and the environment.  For this reason, this Lluc Uceda project supported by ISB Sport has focused on the development of a sustainable product that fits with the environmental objectives proposed by the EU.
