MANTECÓN THE BEST SPANISH RIDER IN THE XCM WORLD CUP

Sergio has done it again! He never ceases to amaze us and this time it was with a sixth position in the XCM World Cup in Nové Mesto. The bandido, despite having some high level rivals, has managed to come close to the top 5.

Yesterday was the first of the three events of this year’s XCM World Cup. An event of 126 km, divided into two laps, and more than 2,500 metres of elevation gain that the bandido managed to complete in 4:42h, just 3 seconds behind his closest rival.

At the start of the race, on the first lap, a large group formed at the front, including Mantecón, who took advantage of his rivals for the second lap of the course.

On that second lap, Sergio gained an advantage when passing through a technical muddy area, but soon after he made a mistake that caused him to fall and the group regrouped again. Even so, he was still in the fight for the victory in the leading group.

However, after the trialera (the most complicated part of the route), the leading group split into two, with the first group breaking away and Sergio remaining in the second.

After this, Sergio’s goal was to become the leader of the second group and he finally finished in a well-deserved sixth position, the best position for a Spaniard since the XCM World Cup started again.
