Chronicle of Scott Cala Bandida , ISB SPORT Ambassadors.
ISB Sport is proud to see our ambassadors from the SCOTT Cala Bandida team competing at the highest international level, achieving prestigious results in one of the world’s most demanding XCM races, the SCOTT Mediterranean Epic MTB.
The riders demonstrated outstanding performance in one of the world’s most challenging XCM races, with Alberto Barroso standing out among the top finishers overall.
The SCOTT Mediterranean Epic MTB once again brought together the international elite of stage mountain biking in Castellón from February 5th to 8th, solidifying its position as one of the most prestigious races on the UCI bike marathon calendar. With Hors Catégorie (SHC) status, a distinction held by only three races of this type worldwide, the event represents a true test of technical and tactical endurance on spectacular trails between the sea and the mountains.
SCOTT Cala Bandida faced this event with two of its riders: Alberto Barroso and Enrique Morcillo, who both delivered very positive performances.
The race kicked off with a demanding time trial in Oropesa del Mar, where both cyclists started strong and demonstrated their preparation. On the stage that started and finished in Castellón,
Barroso put on a great performance, riding very close to the leading group and crossing the finish line in 7th position.
The third stage was especially positive for Morcillo, who recovered from the previous day and crossed the finish line in 9th position. His satisfaction was evident, acknowledging that the
training is paying off and that his form is improving day by day. The final stage again showcased Barroso’s strength, as he never lost sight of the leading group and finished 8th on the last day, consolidating his goal of remaining in the Top 10 of the general classification. This consistency allowed him to finish the SCOTT Mediterranean Epic MTB with a commendable 7th place overall, an extraordinary result for one of his first full competitions in the XCM discipline and in a race of such a high international level.
This result not only confirms Alberto Barroso’s progress as a marathon rider, but also reinforces the team’s confidence for the rest of the season, which presents great challenges and opportunities to continue growing and consolidating SCOTT Cala Bandida as a leading team on the international XCM circuit.
