03 Mar SCOTT CALA BANDIDA’S TOP 8 IN THE ANDALUCÍA BIKE RACE
Team Report from Scott Cala Bandida, ISB SPORT Ambassador
Very Positive Feelings and a Strong Finish
The duo of Alberto Barroso and Enrique Morcillo approached the event with the intention of fighting for the overall classification in an edition affected by significant route changes due to the weather. The shortened and less selective stages didn’t particularly favor the team’s strengths, but they still managed to adapt and compete consistently throughout the week.
Their steady effort allowed them to finish the race in 8th place overall, in addition to achieving a remarkable 5th place in the fifth stage, demonstrating their ability to be close to the front in a top-level international competition.
Meanwhile, José Mari Sánchez, returning after the rib fracture he suffered at the beginning of the season, used the race to regain his competitive rhythm, alongside a new teammate, Diego Valle. His progress was evident throughout the days, culminating in an 8th place finish in the third stage. A mechanical issue on the penultimate stage prevented the team from consolidating its progress in the overall standings, although the overall assessment is positive: the rider is back to feeling competitive and without any discomfort.
With the Andalucía Bike Race now concluded, the team is focusing its attention on the Far West Race SCOTT and, in the longer term, on one of the major goals on the international pairs calendar, the Cape Epic.
At ISB SPORT, we reaffirm our commitment to our ambassadors and are proud to support them in every challenge, providing maximum reliability and performance with our bearings, designed to compete at the highest level.
