12 Jul Third place in the Andorra Epic
The team took third and fourth place in the Andorra Epic 2023. The pair formed by Mantecón and Guerrilla took bronze in the classification. Josemari Sánchez and Miquel Faus finished fourth after a great race.
The Andorra Epic Pyrenees was held from 5 to 8 July. A race that is part of the Epic Series calendar and which, for the first time, had four stages. More kilometres, more slopes and more trails.
The first stage, starting and finishing in La Massana, was 42 kilometres long. A day with a very fast pace in which, despite the high altitude, the first pair of bandidos managed to finish in third position.
The next day, starting in Pal/Arinsal and finishing in La Massana, was a demanding 58 kilometre route with 1,460 metres of positive ascent. The bandidos repeated the same result as the previous day. Jose Mari Sánchez and Miquel were on the verge of climbing the podium, improving their sensations by finishing in fourth position.
Friday’s day was spent between Canillo and La Massana. With long stretches of trails at an altitude of over 2,000m, Miquel and Jose Mari took bronze, followed by Guerrilla and Mantecón in fourth place, after a great stage in which the two pairs rode together.
The last day was spent on cross-country ski tracks, sections of trails, road and the odd wooden footbridge. A final day that was the finishing touch for Mantecón and Guerrilla to secure bronze overall, and Jose Mari and Faus to finish fourth, consolidating the solid race they had run over the four days.
A great start to the second part of the season.
