UNIBO MOTORSPORT AT FORMULA SAE ITALY

DOUBLE FOURTH POSITION FOR UNIBO MOTORSPORT AT FORMULA SAE ITALY

On the Varano circuit, the Integrale 636 and Elettra GN proved their qualities, demonstrating solidity and concreteness in all the tests faced during the Formula Sae Italy event.

The event held from 13 to 17 July began with the classic Tech Inspections, the first technical checks in which the race federation ensures that the cars are safe and ready to take to the track with the right safety standards. After this first step, if passed, there are further tests that the vehicle must undergo before it can be declared fit for the track. The combustion car went through the Tilt test, the Brake test and the Noise test. The electric car on the other hand instead of the exhaust noise test had to pass the Rain check. After passing all inspections, the two vehicles collected the stickers that confirmed the safety of the prototypes and consequently the possibility of continuing the event.

The following day, Cost Event and Business Plan were held. The team members had to give presentations to the judges in which they explained some of the financial issues incurred during the design of the prototypes. The team performed well in the test, taking the top ten in all presentations. With these two steps, the static tests came to an end and it was time to get out on the track and show off the qualities of the vehicles.

The dynamic tests were divided into Skidpad, Acceleration, Autocross and Endurance. In the various sessions, the vehicles had to demonstrate agility, acceleration, dry lap speed and endurance efficiency. The Integrale 636 and Elettra GN defended themselves well in all the tests, bringing home such a score that in the end, added to the points already obtained in the static tests, resulted in a fourth place for both prototypes in the overall classification.

It was a solid debut for UniBo Motorsport, which, without overdoing it, brought home two excellent results that bode well for the next stages and repay the great sacrifices and hard work made so far to get both vehicles into the race. Now it is time to look forward to the next challenges in the knowledge that we can do well and bring home results that give value to the quality of the University of Bologna and the students who are part of the team.

For the Integrale 636 and Team Combustion it is already time to turn the page because this week there is already the Formula Student Czech Republic to be held in Most from 18 to 24 July. Another opportunity to immediately show off the goodness of the new project, while Elettra GN will have to wait until the first week of August when it will be back on track for the Formula Student East in Budapest at the Hungaroring circuit, which hosts Formula 1.
