At ISB SPORT, we firmly believe in the transformative power of bicycles. That is why we have been collaborating for years with Bicicletas Sin Fronteras, an NGO that works to improve access to education in rural areas of Senegal through sustainable mobility solutions. This collaboration is part of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and reflects our desire to contribute to projects that have a real impact on society.
One of the pillars of this programme is the Baobike, a bicycle designed specifically for rural environments where long distances and lack of infrastructure make daily access to school difficult. Since the project began in 2012, more than 5,000 bicycles have been distributed, benefiting nearly 9,000 students and significantly reducing travel time to educational centres.
The latest development is the Baobike 3.0, a model designed to ensure durability, mechanical simplicity and low maintenance, key aspects for use in areas with limited resources. Its technical features include a reinforced aluminium frame, rust-free carbon belt drive and Tannus solid puncture-proof tyres, which reduce mechanical incidents and maintenance requirements.
The programme continues to expand with the incorporation of new educational centres in Senegal and the delivery of new units, consolidating the bicycle as an effective tool for reducing school absenteeism and improving academic performance. This is an example of how sustainable mobility can also become a means of generating equal opportunities and social development.
At ISB SPORT, we have been supporting the work of Bicicletas Sin Fronteras (Bikes Without Borders) for years, an initiative that promotes mobility and access to education on the African continent by integrating bicycles into schools and rural communities. This project makes it easier for many students to get to school more quickly and safely, helping to reduce truancy and improving the quality of life in communities by providing an efficient and sustainable means of transport.
