Felipe Orts, ambassador of ISB Sport, takes eighth place in the Benidorm World Cup

Felipe Orts shows off in front of his home crowd to sign a meritorious eighth place in Benidorm, his best record this 2024 in the Cyclo-cross World Cup. The cyclist from La Vila and ambassador of ISB Sport, very protagonist during the whole race, reached the last lap in the leading group that ended up disputing the victory at the finish line.

As on the big occasions, Felipe faced this new appointment of the World Cup very mentally prepared and eager to make a great performance in front of his people, who gave him unconditional support. Already in the early stages of the race, Orts made a declaration of intent, placing third in the wake of Van Aert. The circuit, very fast, did not make it easy for the race to break and a group of ten riders formed where the rider from La Vila could be seen riding relatively comfortably.

The public, who packed the Benidorm circuit, went crazy with every step of the six-time Spanish Cyclo-cross Champion, who pushed hard on every straight to stay in the top positions. Finally, as the laps went by, a small gap opened up between the four leading riders and a chasing sextet that refused to throw in the towel. With two laps to go, the group was unified again and Orts faced the last stretch of the race together with the big favourites.

At the finish line and with one lap to go, Felipe Orts pulled on his pride to finish the race in 8th position, improving on the result achieved in the previous edition and once again demonstrating his ability to rub shoulders with the big names in this sport.

Felipe Orts commented on his feelings at the end of the race: “It has been a crazy day, the people have encouraged me a lot and have given me wings in the race. On a personal level, I am very happy with my performance, my goal was to finish in the top-10 and I managed to improve my position from the previous edition. Beyond the results I think we have to be happy for what happened this weekend in Benidorm, the race is consolidated in the calendar and people enjoy a lot in the circuit”.

The rider from La Vila Joiosa – Neteo and ambassador of ISB Sport concludes his tour of the peninsula with some unbeatable results, crowning himself as Spanish Champion with an exhibition in Amurrio and signing a top-8 demonstrating his great talent in Benidorm. The next objective for Orts will be the World Cyclo-cross Championships to be held in Tabor (Czech Republic) on 4 February.
