SCOTT Cala Bandida Shines at the Vuelta a Ibiza MTB
The SCOTT Cala Bandida team delivered a spectacular performance at the Vuelta a Ibiza MTB Siroko by Shimano, overcoming several early setbacks to claim a dominant victory in the final stage.
Last weekend, SCOTT Cala Bandida returned to one of the races that holds a special place in their hearts: the Vuelta a Ibiza MTB Siroko by Shimano. This event is especially meaningful for the team, taking place on familiar ground for Enrique Morcillo, a native of Ibiza who knows the island’s trails like no one else. Alongside his teammate José Mari Sánchez, both riders had already experienced success in this iconic race—and once again, they proved they were up to the challenge.
Comeback with a taste of glory
The race kicked off on Friday with a demanding stage of 67 km and 2,000 meters of elevation gain. The pair started strong and looked confident from the very first kilometers. However, an untimely flat tire followed by a crash dropped them to fourth place in the overall standings.
Far from discouraged, the setbacks only fueled their determination going into Saturday’s second stage. Morcillo and Sánchez were focused on gaining back time, though another miscalculation led to a second crash for José Mari. Even so, they crossed the line in third place, clearly feeling they had more to give.
A very special victory
With that fighting spirit still burning, Sunday presented the perfect opportunity for redemption. The SCOTT Cala Bandida duo didn’t miss their chance—they set the pace from the very start, executed their race plan to perfection, and claimed a well-earned and hard-fought victory.
It was the perfect ending to a very special weekend—surrounded by family, friends, and above all, a deep passion for mountain biking.
