Good results of the Metallurgica Veneta MTB Pro Team, ambassador of ISB Sport, at Bacialla Bike

Metallurgica Veneta MTB Pro Team’s, ambassador of ISB Sport, national calendar is definitely off to a great start. At the Bacialla Bike the team touches the sky by occupying the three podium places and takes the victory with Maria Zarantonello in the women’s race.

March 11, 2024, Terontola (AR) – At the first event on the national calendar,

Metallurgica Veneta MTB Professional Team dominated the scene. The Bacialla Bike was the theater of the team’s debut in Italy, and on the stage of the opening round of the Tuscan mountain bike calendar, its riders put on quite a show, playing the role of absolute protagonists.

Nicola Taffarel took advantage of his excellent current condition as did Maria Zarantonello, who had a great opportunity to mark her team debut with victory in the women’s race.

The trip to Cortona for Metallurgica Veneta MTB Pro Team was one of those days you don’t forget, the team directed by Martino Tronconi with a unique trilogy left no room for anyone on the podium of the Bacialla Bike. Nicola Taffarel and Jacopo Billi were the obvious protagonists of the race from the very beginning and arrived together at the finish line, with the winner of the 2023 edition, Massimo Rosa completing the podium. Taffarel stretched out already on the first climb of the Croce and made a good pace, then after the second one of Farneto, Billi came back and together the two teammates went together until the end. “We won this race as a team, the way we did it makes it even better.

We knew that we were the team to beat and we went out to win, we are aware that the team is making very good strides, that we are level and I am convinced that we will continue to move up steps. I am happy because a good group is being created and crucially, I have seen that everyone is pedaling well. Today’s was an important chapter in our adventure, I am sorry that Ole Hem was not able to express himself at his best, he had a few days of fever and had to accept that today was complicated for him,” Martino Tronconi stressed.

The wait for the finish of the women’s race completed the team’s triumph, Maria Zarantonello was the star of the first to the last kilometer. The 23-year-old Vicenza native did the whole race on her own, started strong to make the first part of the race on the attack and then in the second set a good pace to seek her limits in the first point-to-point of the year, run over the distance of 43 kilometers on a wet and muddy course.
