14 Mar ISB SPORT, TRIUMPHS ONE MORE YEAR ANDALUCIA BIKE RACE 2024
ISB Sport was present in the last edition of the prestigious Andalucía Bike Race, the well-known and demanding mountain bike race that took place from February 26th to March 2nd, in the breathtaking landscapes between Jaén and Córdoba.
ISB Sport’s participation in this competition was given through the teams: the Cannondale-ISB Sport and the Scott Cala Bandida, both sponsored by the brand of bearings.
The Cannondale-ISB Sport team, in particular, stood out with a total of 9 podiums for its riders, with a great victory in the last stage of Meritxell Figueras and Claudia Peretti. The latter took second place overall and the pair formed by Monica Calderon and Tessa Kortekaas, took third place.
The Scott Cala Bandida team took two stage podiums and fifth place overall with the pair formed by Natalia Fisher and Irina Lützelschwab. In the men’s category, the duo Jose Maria and Sergio Mantecón, showed again a great commitment, despite some physical problems that did not let them perform at their usual level.
ISB Sport was also one of the sponsors of the Andalucía Bike Race through its support through the coveted ‘ISB Sport Award’, for which, in each day of competition a check for the value of 400 € was delivered to the absolute podium, both in the male and female category.
In addition, the brand of bearings ISB Sport was represented by two teams of Ambassadors of the brand, male who unfortunately could not complete the race due to the indisposition of one of its members, and another female whose members successfully completed the competition, enjoying each stage.
The recurrent presence year after year of ISB Sport in the Andalucía Bike Race, and its sponsorship of the ‘ISB SPORT Award’ in each of the six stages of the Andalucía Bike Race by Garmin, demonstrates its commitment to mountain biking and its support to the most outstanding teams of the national and international scene.
ISB SPORT’S VMAX BEARINGS KEY TO SUSPENSION PERFORMANCE
ISB SPORT’s renowned VMax bearings, specially designed for the entire swingarm, linkage and shock absorber main joint assembly, are key to the performance of MTB racing bikes. Their special design features mean that they have up to 35%-40% more load capacity than the standard ISB SPORT series steel bearings.
Their main feature lies in their special “full ball” design which consists in the elimination of the usual inner cage separating the balls and thus allowing the insertion of the largest possible number of balls. The raceways of its rings are deeper in order to obtain greater lateral support in the face of torsion and the multiple forces associated with the pivots of the bicycle, especially mountain bikes.
In addition, the amount of grease with which these bearings are lubricated is maximized to avoid “squeaking of the suspension” and they are filled from 40% (in some double row models) to 80%, depending on the bearing dimensions.
