A great day for Team corratec – Vini Fantini, ambassador of ISB Sport, which saw Jakub Mareczko take third place in the stage and Mark Stewart get the black jersey as leader of the intermediate sprinter classification.
Despite the fact that the stage, which took the athletes from Madinat Zayed to Liwa, was not exactly favorable to the Brescian sprinter’s characteristics, Mareczko managed to optimize his energies well and maintain an excellent position in the peloton, allowing him to obtain this good placement, which certainly bodes well for future stages.
Excellent performance also by Mark Stewart who, having gone into a breakaway from the very first kilometers of the race with Marco Murgano, his teammate, managed to win the two intermediate sprints and consequently the black jersey, before being caught with ten kilometers to go.
“I’m very happy about today’s result – these are the words of Jakub Mareczko immediately after the finish – surely I would have preferred to win, but considering today’s route not suited to my characteristics, a podium place I consider a very good result, which gives me hope for the next days”.
