14 Apr PUSHING THE LIMITS AT THE SECOND ROUND OF THE CATAL GRAVEL CUP
What a race day it was at the second round of the Catalan Gravel Cup!
The second round of the Catalan Gravel Cup delivered a thrilling race day. A lightning-fast 120 km course with under 1,000 meters of elevation challenged riders to push their limits through the scenic yet demanding gravel roads of Agramunt.
Top performance from the ISB Factory Team
Among the standouts was Sergio Gutiérrez, who rode strongly at the front for most of the race, proudly wearing his Catalan Champion’s jersey. Despite suffering some mechanical issues, he managed to secure an impressive 3rd place in the elite category in what was his first gravel race of the season.
Àlex González made a brilliant debut, crossing the finish line as 2nd in the U23 category and 9th overall, showing remarkable promise in his first outing in gravel racing.
In the women’s field, Joana Puig shone bright, finishing as the top woman overall and taking 1st place in the U23 women’s category. She rode a large part of the race solo, tackling the flat and fast terrain with determination and grit.
Meanwhile, Víctor Fernández had a strong start, riding in the lead group alongside Sergio during the first hour. Unfortunately, a non-repairable puncture forced him to abandon the race.
An intense and emotional day of racing that showcased the team’s strength and competitiveness in this growing discipline.
