GIRO DELLE DOLOMITI, A MARATHON OF INFINITE BEAUTY

A total of 8,000 granfondo cyclists (out of more than 27,000 applications) took part in the 2023 edition of the Maratona delle Dolomiti. They competed on three race courses: the Sellaronda course of 55 km and 1,780 m of altitude gain, the middle course of 106 km and 3,130 m of difference in altitude, and the Maratona course with its 138 km and 4,230 m of altitude gain.

Leaving at 6.30 a.m. from La Villa in Badia, the participants set off in cool temperatures in the morning and downhill and reached the finish line in Corvara in bright sunshine. The race immediately got into full swing and numerous former pro cyclists, skiers and athletes competed for the ranking.

At the end of the race, Niki Giussani (DA TOR – ISB Team) said: “Still recovering from my last surgery, I am very satisfied with the result: I finished the middle course with a time of 3:52′:34″ ranked 3rd place in the 45-49 category and 40th overall. Full of breathtaking views over the Dolomite passes, this race is a unique experience that I recommend to all fans of this sport! Freedom, nature, efforts, but so much satisfaction in crossing the finish line and soaking up the spirit of this event, in a worldwide unique setting!”
