Felipe Orts, ISB Sport ambassador, closes a dream cyclocross season getting a triple top-10 in Maldegem, Middelkerke and Lille. A sign of the great regularity that the cyclist from La Vila has had throughout the campaign, giving a leap in quality that has been reflected in the results.
In the Exact Cross of Maldegem, Orts showed his great form in the early stages of the race, leading the race for one lap. The six-time Spanish cyclocross champion left an unbeatable feeling, riding in the leading positions until the penultimate lap, where the group fragmented due to wear and tear. Finally, the Spaniard managed to cross the finish line in fifth position, a good result that does justice to his performance there.
On Saturday it was the turn to close the Superprestige in Middelkerke, where Felipe faced this challenge with a clear objective, to extend the good run of results to finish in the top positions of the general classification. With the slogan learned, the rider from La Vila managed to place fourth in the first lap of the race. At the halfway point, Orts rode in an intermediate group that fought for seventh place, which he would end up winning. With this result, the Spaniard managed to occupy the seventh position in the general classification, notably improving his record of last season.
Wanting to close the cyclo-cross season on a good note and with the town of Lille as a witness, Felipe Orts once again rode a very intelligent race to take 9th place in the final round of the X²O Trofee. After a crash when the rider from La Vila was fighting for the leading positions, the rider from Alicante was forced to reinvent himself to finish in the top-10.
Felipe Orts: “The feeling has been good every day, we have been fighting with the best and getting good results. Today I was fighting for the top-5 and I suffered a crash that took me away from the leading positions but I close the cyclo-cross season with a very satisfied with my performance in this final stretch of the campaign”.
A good result that reinforces the line of work of the Alicante rider, ambassador of ISB Sport and La Vila Joiosa – Néteo, who in his debut season as a structure has more than fulfilled the established objectives. The competition will continue for Felipe Orts with the mountain bike and gravel calendar, with a calendar to be announced soon.
