The Spanish XCM Champion maillot stays one more year in the hands of the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team, this time in the hands of Jose Mari Sanchez who won yesterday the Lalin Bike Race, the race that this year designated the Spanish Champion. On the women’s side Natalia Fischer was proclaimed runner-up.
One of the biggest goals of the season was this race. So the whole team travelled to Lalin, Galicia to fight for the title in a battle of more than 4 hours, with 95km and more than 2,800 metres of elevation gain in the men’s category and 86 km and 2,600 metres of elevation gain in the women’s category.
From the beginning Jose Mari and Sergio were part of the leading group, but in the second intermediate pass some riders took the lead and the rest of the group was 40 seconds behind them. However, in the last kilometres the group was united again and Jose Mari Sanchez took the victory in a sprint to the finish line getting the hotly contested Spanish champion maillot.
In the women’s category there was not so much dispute as Natalia took second place right from the start. La bandida was runner-up in the Spanish championship.
