06 Mar Deportivo Liceo Runner-up of the Copa del Rey 2023
In its fight to lift the award of the Copa del Rey 2023, the national trophy played annually by the eight best Spanish teams and that this year was held during the days of March 2 to 5 at the Pavelló Joan Ortoll de Calafell, the ambassador team of ISB Sport, Deportivo Liceo, was at the gates of winning the title, reaching the final.
In a competition in which the team capable of winning three consecutive games won, the Liceo, in its first game, achieved a comfortable but deceptive result. It overcame Caldes 7-2, with goals from Arnau Canal, Alex Rodriguez and Bruno Di Benedetto and César Carballeira and David Torres (both for two games).
Already in the semifinals, against Voltregà (who won their first match against Noia by 2-3) and thanks to an exhibition of resistance, we could see a more disputed match with fewer goals where the Liceo certified its pass to the final of the Copa del Rey. He won his match 1-2 with goals from David Torres and Alex Rodriguez.
In their final step to lift the cup, we saw a classic between the two best Spanish teams today, Deportivo Liceo and Barça. In the match, although the Liceo kept him on the ropes until the last seconds, Juan Copa’s team were defeated in a more than dignified way in the final of the Copa del Rey against a Barça, who does not know that it is the defeat in any of the competitions he has played this season. The result was 2-4 and both goals of the Liceo were from Alex Rodriguez (who finished the competition as the top scorer with a total of 4 goals).
