Report of the Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team, ISB SPORT Ambassador
The 2026 Andalucía Bike Race concluded with a very positive outcome for the Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team, who achieved a podium finish in the final stage and outstanding results in the overall standings after a week marked by physical demands and overcoming challenges.
In the final stage held in Córdoba, the men’s pair of Norwegian Eskil Evensen-Lie and Italian Nicola Taffarel delivered a strong performance, securing third place in the 40-kilometer technical course. This result allowed them to finish tenth overall and, above all, regain confidence after a difficult start, hampered by Taffarel’s recent health issues. The duo’s progress throughout the week strengthens their aspirations for the upcoming Cape Epic in South Africa.
In the women’s category, the young Maria Zarantonello shone in her debut in a stage race. Alongside Costanza Fasolis, he maintained consistent performance throughout the competition, ultimately achieving a commendable fourth place overall. After starting with a fifth-place finish in the time trial, the duo remained close to the podium all week, confirming Zarantonello’s potential in this type of competition.
Meanwhile, Colombian Diego Arias and Andrea Candeago also demonstrated competitive spirit. Despite Candeago’s physical difficulties after a promising seventh-place finish in the second stage, the pair finished eleventh overall, standing out for their endurance on a technical and demanding course.
With these results, the Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team concludes the Andalucía Bike Race with positive feelings, consolidating their form and refining team cohesion before facing new international challenges.
