Scott Cala Bandida en la Andalucía Bike Race

In the 13th edition of the Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN, a race in pairs formed by 6 stages starting in Torredelcampo, Jaén and an inaugural stage with 48 kilometers with more than 1800 meters of positive slope, we could enjoy the ISB Sport ambassador team, the Scott Cala Bandida.

In this test played during the days of February 27 to March 4, 2023, we saw the bandits of the Spanish team compete in pairs, formed by; Mantecón and Guerrilla, and José Marí Sánchez and Miquel Faús.

In the first stage, a stage with a very muddy terrain that made the race slower, Mantecón and Guerrilla managed to finish in a well-deserved fourth place and José Marí and Miquel managed to fight for the thirteenth position.

On the day of Andalucía, the city of Jaén was filled with people to see the second stage. The start from the Cathedral of Jaén took the runners to a hard route of continuous descent up the slope of Jabalcuz to finish in El Pincho at 1,367 meters of altitude, and the subsequent descent to the Olivo Arena of Jaén, where the finish line was located. The day was marked by the snow that resisted at the highest level of the day in one of the most emblematic peaks of Jaén, El Pincho. Despite being a very cold and hard day, the pair formed by Mantecón and Guerrilla managed to enter the top 10.

The third stage was short, but with a lot of unevenness in which Mantecón and Guerrilla managed to recover positions along the route until reaching the final sprint in the group that fought for second place. They finally got 6th place. Miquel and José Marí had a good performance at this stage fighting inside the top 20.

The penultimate day of 92 km with about 2,000 meters of positive slope was one of the most spectacular for the team of bandits. The stage left Córdoba towards La Canchuela to meet a new section called ‘La Cuesta del Hielo’. Afterwards, the runners passed through the Fangorn Forest and the mythical climb to El Reventón before descending the incredible Loma de los Escalones that led them to the finish line in the Parque de la Asomadilla. Mantecón and Guerrilla finished in sixth position.

After six days of competition, the last day with departure and arrival in Córdoba, the last stage ended with the ISB Sport ambassador team with the 5th place in the general for Mantecón and Guerrilla after returning to be in the top 10 in the final stage and a great performance and effort of Miquel and José Marí who proved to be in very good shape.
